Prof. Neal Tai-Shung Chung currently serves as an Emeritus Distinguished Chair Professor and Yushan Scholar at the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and holds MS and BS degrees from National Taiwan University and Chung Yuan Christian University, respectively. Professor Chung is a leading expert in membrane materials science and engineering, with a focused research interest in applications for clean water, renewable energy, biofuels, and carbon dioxide capture technologies. Throughout his career, Professor Chung served as a Chair Professor and Emeritus Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from 2001 to 2021. He also holds honorary or advisory positions at numerous internationally renowned institutions, including Nanjing Tech University, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia, and Sydney Technology University (STU) in Australia.
Prof. Chung has made extraordinary contributions to the field of membrane science and technology, particularly in gas separation, liquid separation, and novel membrane technologies. Recognized by Clarivate Analytics, he was named a Highly Cited Researcher globally in 2018 and 2019. His distinguished achievements include receiving the Singapore President's Science and Technology Award, the International Desalination Association (IDA) Award for Excellence in Water Reuse and Conservation, and the NUS Outstanding Researcher Award. His research has not only elevated Singapore's academic standing on the global stage but also propelled the nation to the forefront of water resource research worldwide, earning him the title of Fellow of the Singapore National Academy of Engineering.
